自2004年关于电力系统稳定性定义的原始论文发表以来，由于换流器接入型发电技术、负荷及输电装置的渗透率不断提高，电力系统的动态行为已逐渐发生变化。鉴于这一变化，2016年成立了一个工作组，旨在重新审视并在适当时扩展基础稳定性术语的经典定义与分类，从而纳入快速响应电力电子器件的影响。本论文基于一份 IEEE PES 的报告，总结了该工作组的主要研究成果，并提出了电力系统稳定性的扩展定义及分类。
